7 Weeks now completed on our U.S. Tour and now officially at our halfway mark. Time is really flying by.
We have continued north and this time chose to take a break from our Travel Trailer and stayed in a nice waterside home in Seabeck, Washington. Since we had the opportunity to store our travel trailer and equipment and had a few days break in between our next session, we took a mental break and hopped on a 3 hour plane to Alaska!
Alaska was just beautiful. We flew into Anchorage airport and stay at the Lakefront Hotel which sits on Lake Hood. Lake Hood is a seaplane base and is the world's busiest. We enjoyed watching the seaplanes take off and land and there was definitely no shortage of activity. We chose to take a ride on the Alaska Railroad to Seward which was full of amazing sights and hard not to take 10 million photos. We were quite fortunate to have a fairly empty train allowing for us to get lots of time in their upstairs dome seating area and even popping out to the back of the train for some excellent views through the Alaskan countryside.
While in Seward we grabbed a bite to eat at a local restaurant along the marina and took a walk down the waterfront park along part of Resurrection Bay to visit the Alaska SeaLife Center. The SeaLife Center was fun to see with many native species to Alaska. We walked through Seward visiting a few of the local shops. We walked along the waterside park again on the return and took a few moments to just sit and take in the scenery. On our walk back we saw a few sealions swimming up the coastline and also a sea otter diving for a meal and returning to the surface to snack while floating on its back.

After a handful of days in Alaska, we flew back to Washington State to begin our scouting process and prepare for the sessions ahead. We had a beautiful stay at a waterside property overlooking Hood Canal with the Olympic Mountains off in the distance. We took walks along the rocky beach nearby and also drove around the western Washington State area scouting for locations and taking in the green sights along the way.
Washington State was beautiful as its full of mountains, green trees and colorful wildflowers plus all the waterfalls and lakes and canals make for some great sight seeing. We also enjoyed an opportunity to spend some quality time with a good friend and fellow photographer which made our visit to the area extra special.
Don't forget to visit our tour page for more blogs and see where we are heading to next.
For our first session, we scouted a few locations to showcase the Washington State landscape. We found a pair of spots along Lake Cushman, one featuring a waterfall and the other a vista with an amazing view over the lake with the mountains off in the distance. We then traveled to a location just outside of the Twanoh State Park area along Hood Canal for some beautiful wildflower shots and some more great mountain background.

Our 2nd session while in the Seabeck, Washington area was located at the Dickerson Creek Waterfall in Bremerton, Washington. This was a post-bridal / "Trash The Dress" session focusing on our bride alone looking amazing in her wedding dress while sitting among such a beautiful waterfall.
Scouting out locations and taking our time before each and every session to assure we are able to get the desired look and feel for every session has been such an important aspect of this tour and every session we for Jessica McKnight Photography.
